Functional Medicine Covered by Insurance

Whole-person nutrition care grounded in science and accessible through your insurance.

Welcome to Thrive

Root-Cause Healthcare. Covered by Insurance. Real Results.

At Thrive, every patient receives high-quality, evidence-based functional medicine care from licensed Registered Dietitians or Certified Nutrition Specialists. For most people, our core services provide everything they need, often at no cost to in-network patients.

Our services are billed through insurance, making functional nutrition more accessible than the typical cash-only model. If your plan doesn’t cover medical nutrition therapy, we’ll walk you through affordable self-pay options so you can still get the support you need.

No more searching for a provider who ‘gets it.’ We believe you deserve a provider who truly understands — and you’ll find that expert care here.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine looks at the “why” behind chronic health issues, focusing on root causes rather than just managing symptoms. Compared to traditional care, functional medicine is more personalized and effective at addressing long-term health issues.

Advanced nutrition is a key part of this approach. It uses food and nutrient-based strategies to support lasting health. At Thrive, our nutrition experts combine your history, lab results, and lifestyle factors to create realistic, personalized plans. We are experts at making your plan realistic (not overwhelming) and at supporting you across your journey.

Visit Lengths & Types

All visit types and lengths remain the same.  All clients receive the same visit lengths, messaging support, and high standards of care. You’ll be matched with any of our licensed dietitians based on your goals, preferences, and availability.

Insurance Coverage

Unlike most functional medicine practices, every level of care at Thrive is designed to run through your health insurance whenever possible. For patients without insurance coverage, we offer transparent, reduced self-pay rates to keep care accessible. For Complex Care members, the monthly membership fee is separate from your insurance coverage

Determine Your Fit

You are never required to join the membership, but it’s available if you need it.

Our goal is simple:
The right provider and resources for the right level of complexity, so every patient receives appropriate, personalized care.

If you’re unsure where you belong, we’ll help guide you.

You may be a good fit if you’re dealing with multi-system issues, long-standing conditions, or medical complexity haven’t responded well to basic nutrition care. If desired, your core nutrition services dietitian can help you evaluate whether a Complex Care Nutrition Membership is right for you early in care.

If the RD you prefer is part of the Complex Care program, then the membership is required.
If they are a core nutrition services provider, no membership is needed.
Complex Care Providers are Registered Dietitians who hold the Integrative and Functional Certified Nutritional Practitioner (IFNCP) credential and have practiced functional nutrition for at least two years.

Currently, our Complex Care providers are:

Melissa Teel, MS, RDN, LDN.
No. Eating disorder care is provided through our core nutrition services.
Yes. If your needs change or if you and your dietitian determine that advanced expertise would be helpful, you can upgrade at any time.
Yes. If your needs no longer require functional-nutrition expertise, you can return to core nutrition services with the next billing cycle.
For patients with higher-complexity needs, delivering effective functional-nutrition care requires additional tools, more in-depth tracking, and expanded resources. The membership makes it possible for us to offer those supports (such as lab and supplement discounts, Cronometer Pro access, and exclusive educational content) without increasing costs for every client in the practice.
